To ensure that GMG Online Licensing functions seamlessly with a proxy server, it's crucial to configure it at the system level rather than on a user-specific basis, as we employ a system-wide Windows service for our licensing. Before proceeding with the configuration, we recommend that you consult with your IT department to ensure the configuration change aligns with your network policies.
Prerequisites
You need a certain version of our licensing service. Please check to ensure you have GMG Application Service: 2.3.51.203 or higher installed.
Step 1: Command Prompt
Launch the Command Prompt as an administrator. You can do this by searching for Command Prompt in your Windows search bar, right-clicking on it, and selecting Run as administrator.
Step 2: Proxy Configuration
Enter the below command. Replace PROXYNAME with your proxy server's name or IP address and PORT with the proxy server's port number.
netsh winhttp set proxy PROXYNAME:PORT
Step 3: Verification
Confirm that the proxy configuration is applied correctly by running the following command:
netsh winhttp show proxy
Ensure that the displayed Proxy Server and Bypass List entries match the settings you specified in Step 2.
Step 4: Restart GMG Application Service
To apply the changes, restart the GMG Application Service and continue with either creating a new Online License system or switching an existing GMG license dongle to an Online License system.
