New in version 5.16.0.164 - March 19, 2025
This version provides higher stability and fixes several bugs. We recommend you to always install the latest GMG ColorProof version to benefit from all improvements.
The most important bugfixes:
-
Missing email notifications after update
After upgrading to version 5.16.0.52, users did not receive feedback indicating that the configuration for outgoing email notifications had to be updated. The 'User OAuth2' setting needed to be defined as 'None' or 'Microsoft'. -
Wrong email recipient for remote proofing notifications
Email notifications were sent to the sender's email address instead of the intended recipient or remote site address. -
Unrecognized spot colors in remote proofing jobs
The spot colors in remote XML jobs were no longer recognized if the job was moved to another printer queue. -
Deactivation of automated job import setting in remote proofing
After upgrading to version 5.16.0.52, the activated remote proofing setting 'Automated Job Import via Hotfolder' was incorrectly no longer active. -
Object reference error for measure jobs
Some print jobs from the jobs queue failed at the label printing stage. Error message:
"Object reference not set to instance of object" -
Unprocessed files in hotfolders with wait time enabled
Hotfolders with the 'Wait before processing: 1 min' setting enabled did not process files that had an old creation date. -
Synchronization issue with ColorProof GO
The job synchronization between GMG ColorProof and GMG ColorProof GO was occasionally interrupted.
New in version 5.16.0.96 - December 5, 2024
This version provides higher stability and fixes several bugs. We recommend you to always install the latest GMG ColorProof version to benefit from all improvements.
The most important bugfixes:
-
OpenColor project change warning
Depending on the proof mode (CT/DP) and the image data (spots/no spots), OpenColor jobs sometimes incorrectly triggered a warning about a changed linked OpenColor project. This issue occurred only on Spanish, Italian, and German operating systems; English systems were not affected. In order to fix this issue, please install GMG ColorProof 5.16.0.96 as well as GMG OpenColor 3.2.0.37. -
Unclear verification results for GMG Spot Color V2.0 strip
The verification results of the GMG Spot Color Strip V2.0 were not presented to users in a transparent way, as the overview only displayed the maximum delta-E value per ink (50% or 100%). The UI now clearly indicates whether the delta-E value corresponds to the 50% or 100% patch. -
Missing Out-of-Gamut flag on GMG Spot Color V2.0 label
The Out-of-Gamut flag was missing on the label of MXN-based jobs if one of the spot colors in the Spot Color V2.0 strip exceeded the tolerances. -
Performance issues
Several performance issues have been resolved, including unexpected end of printing with parallel MXN jobs, a memory leak causing intermittent license errors, and excessive RAM consumption. -
Paper tint not removed in dynamic OpenColor jobs
The paper tone in dynamic OpenColor jobs was not removed after deactivating the “Paper Tint Simulation” option. -
Print issues with OpenColor jobs containing CxF spot colors
OpenColor jobs with technical spot colors defined by a CxF could not be printed. -
Application start via task bar icon not possible
GMG ColorProof could not be started by right-clicking the taskbar icon and selecting ‘Start GMG ColorProof’.
New in version 5.16.0.52 - September 18, 2024
Enhanced information dialog in Manual Job Manager
The information dialog in the Manual Job Manager, accessible via Toolbar > Info, has been expanded and now includes detailed profile information. For example, it displays the checksum, measurement condition, GMG OpenColor project, and various ink parameters such as data source, L*a*b values, and whether colors are in gamut or out of gamut. In the event of a problem, this information can help you identify and resolve the cause of the error more quickly.
The most important bugfixes:
-
Connection issues between GMG ColorProof and GMG OpenColor
After updating to GMG ColorProof 5.16 and GMG OpenColor 3.2, various connection issues arose between the two applications, leading to one or more of the following problems:
- GMG OpenColor jobs could not be printed, and the following warning message was displayed persistently: "Proof Output: Selected OpenColor Project has changed."
- Color channels from jobs were not mapped.
- GMG OpenColor proof standards were incorrectly displayed as ‘disconnected’ despite GMG OpenColor being active and connected.
- When downloading GMG OpenColor projects, the keyword filter defined in GMG ColorProof's general system settings was ignored. -
Synchronization issue with static profiles
Static profiles could not be loaded into the GMG ColorProof database. Please ensure you install both the latest GMG ColorProof patch and the upcoming GMG OpenColor patch to fix this issue. -
GMG ProofMedia Studio matte 200 and Epson SureColor SC-Px000
The spot color databases for 'GMG ProofMedia studio matte 200' could not be selected. Spot colors in the jobs were not recognized. -
Connection issue between GMG ColorProof and GMG ColorProof GO
After approximately 30 minutes, the system overview in GMG ColorProof GO displayed GMG ColorProof systems as 'offline'.

Request profiles for GMG DotProof dynamically
In combination with GMG OpenColor 3.2 and later, you can now also request MXD profiles for GMG DotProof dynamically. To do so, a project with an iterated CMYK profile must be created and published on the GMG OpenColor side first. You can then sync this project with GMG ColorProof (Database > Download > From GMG OpenColor) and use it for your DotProof jobs. Please note that you cannot use the same project for DotProof and Contone, but that you will need a separate project for each profile type instead.
Use spot color definitions from CxF for dynamic MXN profiling
GMG ColorProof now automatically detects and reads out embedded CxF spot color definitions from your PDF Files. In combination with the GMG OpenColor project inks, the spot color definitions from the document can then be used for the dynamic multicolor profile calculation.
Find channel mapping rules faster via the search filter
Managing numerous channel mapping rules can be confusing and time-consuming. With the new search filter in the rule set overview and in the mapping dialog, you can assign channels more efficiently: Just enter a keyword into the search bar to filter the list for entries containing that keyword, allowing you to find the required rule quickly and easily.
Change the GMG OpenColor IP address for all standards at once
The IP address of your GMG OpenColor instance has changed? Good news: Instead of tediously changing the address for all GMG OpenColor proof standards individually, you can now use the new batch change functionality from the general settings to update the address for all standards at once with just a few clicks.
Restore remote sites on different machines
When creating an environment backup as an Admin, you can now decide if the remote site settings should only be restorable on the machine on which the backup is created, or if the data from the backup is allowed to be restored on different machines as well.
Proof with the new 'GMG ProofMedia studio matte 200'
GMG ColorProof 5.16 supports our new 'GMG ProofMedia studio matte 200', designed for print simulation on OBA-free production substrates in the packaging sector, such as folding boxes and corrugated cardboard, as well as decoration or letterpress printing. Its high grammage provides excellent mechanical stability and a consistent print image, even with heavy ink application. With high brightness, it offers a larger color space in highlight areas than many other matte proof media, allowing to reproduce even the finest structures with high color intensity and consistency on its smooth surface. 'GMG ProofMedia studio matte 200' is available in 13", 17", 24", and 44" widths. Under the following link, you can learn more about our media portfolio and download additional information material such as product sheets, certifications, and our FSC® policy: GMG ProofMedia
Print prototypes with the new 'Roland VersaOBJECT CO-i' series
GMG ColorProof 5.16 supports the new printer models 'Roland VersaObject CO-300i' and 'Roland VersaObject CO-640i'. With the Calibration Creation Wizard, you can create custom calibration sets and corresponding output conditions for GMG OpenColor 3.2 and later to print color accurate and reproducible prototype proofs for a wide range of substrates.
Receive licenses for new systems at any time
Did you ever need to set up a new system urgently beyond the GMG business hours? For example a disaster recovery setup after hardware failure? With our new Application Service function 'Request temporary licenses' and a user account at our cloud management platform GMG Manage, you can now obtain a temporary license package at any time to safeguard business continuity even in time-critical cases. This package covers all essential GMG applications and is valid for four days. Within this period, you can contact your local dealer or our support team to replace the temporary licenses with permanent ones.
Farewell to the blues: Embrace the future with sleek shades of gray
Say hello to a modernized and visually cohesive UI, reflecting our commitment to consistency across the entire GMG product range. Benefit from a streamlined design with refined icons and a crisp navigation menu, offering a clear view of what matters most.
