Would you like to streamline your processes and save time at the same time? Find out here how you can easily integrate your GMG ColorServer system into your existing Esko Automation Engine workflow.
Technical requirements:
Workflow solution:
- Provider: Esko
- Software: Automation Engine
- Supported Version:14 or higher
- Additional licence options required: none
GMG solution:
- Provider: GMG GmbH & Co. KG
- Software: GMG ColorServer
- Supported version: 5.0 or higher
- Additional licence options required: none
Preparing the network:
Firstly, you will need a server location that is accessible from both Automation Engine and GMG ColorServer.
Create at least one input folder and one output folder in this location.
These folders will later be used by both systems for file exchange. The input folders are monitored by GMG ColorServer, whilst the output folders are monitored by Automation Engine.
Please ensure that
- Automation Engine has write access to the input folder(s)
- GMG ColorServer has read and write access to the input and output folders.
- Write access to the input folders is required for the proper backup and clean-up of processed files.
Preparing GMG ColorServer for integration:
- Launch the GMG Hotfolder Service Configurator.
-
Add the server location of your input and output folders to the known locations under Resources > Hotfolder Locations > New.
- Launch the GMG ColorServer Client.
-
Create a new PDF hotfolder under Hotfolders > PDF Hotfolders > New.
A new dialogue box will then open.
-
Under Input Folders, add the required hotfolders.
-
Select the option Use the same folder structure in the output.
-
Under Folder depth, select the Unlimited option.
-
Under ‘Workflow’, select the required settings for file types, naming filters and conversion.
-
Wählen Sie unter Output > Hotfolder Output die Option Overwrite Existing File unter Existing Files.
Please do not add a prefix or suffix under ‘Output name’. Otherwise, the workflow will not be able to recognise the converted files.
- Under ‘Clean-up / Backup’ > ‘Successful jobs’, select the options ‘Delete input files’ and ‘Delete job from job list’.

-
Disable ‘Move input files after processing’. -
Under Clean-up / Backup > Failed Jobs, select the option ‘Delete input files’.
Under Report, tick the ‘Generate report’ tick box.
Under Report > Destination Folder, select the same folder that was chosen as the output folder under Output > Hotfolder Output > File Output in step 9.
Under Report > File Name, select the option ‘Keep’.
Under Report > Generate report on, select the Always option.
Under Report > Format, select the XML option.
Under Report, clear the Delete reports after checkbox.
-
Under Report, select the Overwrite existing file option.
