In virtualized setups, the “effective space” available to an application can change in ways that don’t happen on a fixed physical PC. This is typically caused by display resolution and/or Windows scaling (DPI) in the virtual session.
Symptoms
- Buttons (e.g., OK / Apply / Next) are not visible in a dialog.
- The bottom or right side of a window is cut off.
- The issue happens more often in VM/remote sessions or when using display scaling.
Cause
This happens when the application window or dialog is larger than the available visible screen area. In virtualized and high‑DPI environments, the “effective” usable area can change due to:
- VM/remote session resolution or client window size
- OS display scaling (Windows DPI scaling / macOS Retina scaling)
- Missing VM graphics drivers/tools causing limited or incorrect display modes
- Font differences that change layout sizes
Solution (recommended)
Use a supported minimum resolution
- Set the session/desktop resolution to 1280 × 1024 or higher.
Check display scaling
- Windows: Settings → System → Display → Scale = 100% (for troubleshooting)
- macOS: System Settings → Displays → try Default (or “More Space” if UI is clipped)
If using a VM/Remote Desktop
- Use full-screen mode and reconnect the session after changing resolution.
- Install/update VM display tools to enable correct resolutions.
If the dialog is off-screen
- Windows: press Alt + Space → M and use arrow keys to move the window back into view.
If the issue persists
Please provide the following to Support:
- Affected product and version
- VM platform (VMware/Hyper‑V/VirtualBox/etc)
- OS (Windows/macOS)
- Connection method (RDP/Citrix/VNC/console)
- Resolution + scaling setting
- Screenshot of the affected screen
