GMG system-based licensing for products such as GMG ColorProof, GMG OpenColor and GMG ColorServer, usually requires internet access. Though it is possible to use these GMG products offline, most of our licensing technology uses cloud access. It's crucial to configure your proxy at the system level rather than on a user-specific basis, as we employ a system-wide Windows service for our licensing.
To enable GMG licensing in a proxy environment, you need to provide the server name or IP address and port. In the following section, we'll describe how to do this step-by-step.
Prerequisites
You need a certain version of our licensing service. Please check to ensure you have GMG Application Service: 2.3.51.203 or higher installed.
Step 1: Command Prompt
Launch the Command Prompt as an administrator. You can do this by searching for Command Prompt in your Windows search bar, right-clicking on it, and selecting Run as administrator.
Step 2: Proxy Configuration
Look up your proxy settings in your operating system.
Copy the name or IP adress and enter the below command. Replace PROXYNAME with your proxy server's name or IP address and PORT with the proxy server's port number.
netsh winhttp set proxy PROXYNAME:PORT
Step 3: Verification
Confirm that the proxy configuration is applied correctly by running the following command:
netsh winhttp show proxy
Ensure that the displayed Proxy Server and Bypass List entries match the settings you specified in Step 2.
Step 4: Restart GMG Application Service
To apply the changes, restart the GMG Application Service. After restarting, you should be able to receive licenses via the cloud or create a new license system.
