When working on a PDF hotfolder, there are a number of options available for Image Compression. This article will discuss what each would entail:
- No Compression: Images are not compressed in output pdf and the file size will be larger than if compression is used. If file size is not an issue, you can leave with no compression.
- Retain Existing: Preserves the image compression setting from the input pdf. This is the default.
- ZIP: Lossless compression - it works very well with images with large areas of single colors or patterns or b&w images.
- JPEG: Lossy compression so you will lose image data and it would reduce the quality. You can usually get a smaller files size than a zip file since you are losing data.
