The error message in ColorProof: “Selected measuring device does not match the installed one" informs that the printer settings in the software (“white backing”) do not match with the settings of the Epson 9900 spectroproofer (“Gray backing”)
Please check the following setting on the display of the printer:
MENU > OPTION SETUP > SPECTROPROOFER > STATUS INFORMATION > BACKING COLOR
What is stated here?
When the Epson printer states that the backing color is gray, this is an error and it can have different causes: white tile is dirty, the position of the white tile is moved, broken cable, problem with the connection of the printer to the measuring device, etc.
Typically one of the following actions could solve the issue:
- Unmount device/remount device
- switch off the printer and disconnect from the power supply
- disconnect the spectroproofer from the printer (power and USB)
- disconnect the network cable
- check the position of the white tile
- connect again and restart
- clean the white backing
- Firmware update
- Reset switch, change switch
- Shorten the route to the printer
If the status of the spectroproofer remains gray, please contact an Epson technician.
