GMG ColorPlugin for Adobe Photoshop uses the same GMG OpenColor database for conversions as the Illustrator plugin, including all custom separation variants. This ensures consistent color results across applications and editors for both raster and vector artwork.
Unembed images for use in Adobe Photoshop
To make embedded images accessible for Photoshop, unembed them via the "Links" panel in Illustrator. This will create a separate file that you can open directly in Photoshop from Illustrator for seamless conversion.
- In Adobe Illustrator, select the image you want to modify with Adobe Photoshop.
- Click the small hamburger menu in the top right of the Links panel and select Unembed.
The "Unembed" dialog opens in your file browser. - Enter a name for your output file and specify the location where it should be saved.
- As file type, select Photoshop (psd).
- Click Unembed to unembed the image.
The 'Unembed' dialog closes. - Click the pencil icon ("Edit in Photoshop") at the bottom of the Links panel to open the image in Adobe Photoshop for editing.
Update and re-embed images in Adobe Illustrator
Adobe Illustrator will automatically detect any saved changes made to unembedded images. When you return to Adobe Illustrator, you will automatically be notified of the modified images and prompted to update them. Click "Yes" to confirm and to apply the changes in Illustrator.
Then click the hamburger menu in Illustrator's "Links" panel and select "Embed Image(s)" to re-embed the image.
