Version 5.7.2 - April 2, 2026
Dynamic Spot Color Conversion: Use values from OpenColor Separation Rule by default
In the past, ColorServer would always request OpenColor to calculate a new separation rule for a spot color conversion when using dynamic Spot Color conversion, making it impossible to use custom separation values.
A new option 'Customize Output Channels' has been added, which, if disabled, ensures that the exact separation values defined in the OpenColor separation rule will be used for spot color conversion.
Dynamic RGB Separation Parameters
New OpenColor RGB separation parameters (available from OpenColor 3.4) have been added to the Dynamic RGB Processor:
- GCR Level (CMYK)
- Black Start (CMYK)
- Max. Black (CMYK)
Rasterize: Crop image output to a PDF Bounding Box
When rasterizing PDF to images, it is now possible to define which PDF Bounding Box the output images should be cropped to.
Easily remove temporary files in case of an emergency
In many cases, problems with ColorServer not processing files can be resolved by removing temporary data and restarting the server.
Resolved issues
This release improves stability and fixes the following issues:
-
Conversion - Processing error because of missing profiles
Conversions with MX3 profiles failed because linear CMYK and RGB MX4 profiles were missing in the ColorServer resources
Error message: “MX CMYK linear profile not found: C:\Program Files\GMG\ColorServer5\PDFWorker.app\ Resources\Profiles" "CS_cmyk_cmyk_linear.mx4” -
Barbieri Spectro LFP - measurement import failed
The import of measurements with a spectral range of 380nm to 730 nm was not possible. -
SmartProfiler - Linearization missing in recalibration chart
If a SmartProfiler project contained a linearization profile, it was not taken into account in the recalibration test chart and led to wrong recalibration results -
Job ticket - TIF files not processed
It was not possible to process TIF files by a job ticket hotfolder -
Conversion - Text fill or stroke turned black
In some cases, text was filled or stroked black after conversion in ColorServer. -
License - Incorrect expiration date
In some cases, the license expiration date displayed in the ColorServer Client was not correct. -
Damaged Photoshop data in a rasterized file
When opening a rasterized image in Adobe Photoshop, it reported damaged Photoshop data.
Error message: “Dieses Dokument enthält Adobe Photoshop-Daten, die beschädigt zu sein scheinen. Fortfahren und die Photoshop-Daten ignorieren?” -
Conversion result not visible in a Photoshop PDF
The conversion result was not visible when opening the PDF in Adobe Photoshop because the file still contained leftover metadata from the original document.
Version 5.7 - August 26, 2025
Create linearization and ink-cut profiles in SmartProfiler
Inconsistent colors and unnecessary corrections slow down any production process. With GMG SmartProfiler Multicolor, you can now create linearization and ink-cut profiles before characterization, laying the foundation for consistent quality, easy standardization across multiple devices, and maximum process stability. Learn more at Printer linearization.
PDF Rasterization: TIFF and JPEG export
Some downstream processes do not require vector data, but clean image files. With the enhanced "Rasterize PDF" option, you can now not only rasterize your PDFs but also save them directly as TIFF or JPEG files. You can choose to export everything in a single file or channel-wise as separate 8-bit images. Variables allow you to flexibly control filenames and folder structure, adapting the output precisely to the requirements of your DFE or other workflows. Learn more at PDF rasterization.
Adobe® PDF Library update
Ensure that your PDF processing is state-of-the-art: GMG ColorServer 5.7 includes the latest Adobe® PDF Library 21.0.0.7.
End of service life (EOL): X-Rite i1 Pro 2
We hereby announce the end of service life for the X-Rite i1 Pro 2 series. Support for these devices via service hotline, email, or ticket system can therefore no longer be guaranteed. However, the drivers remain included in GMG products. See also: Supported measuring devices across GMG products
Resolved issues
This release improves stability and fixes the following issues:
-
Failed recalibration with reduced ink set
The recalibration of a SmartProfiler projects failed when only a subset of inks was selected. -
Color deviation with "IO_PSO_UncoatedV3-52_TAC280_G1_V1"
In rare cases, processing with the profile "IO_PSO_UncoatedV3-52_TAC280_G1_V1" resulted in color deviations. The profile has been optimized and the new variant "IO_PSO_UncoatedV3-52_TAC280_G1_V2" is now available.
