Note: Please install GMG ColorServer with full administrator rights. While standard Windows user rights are sufficient to run the application, administrator privileges may be required to access network drives.
GMG ColorServer can be installed in different setups, depending on your environment:
- Single-computer setup: Server and Client are installed on the same workstation – recommended for evaluation, smaller environments, or local use.
- Distributed setup: The Server runs on a central machine (for example in your production environment), and one or more Clients are installed on user workstations for remote access and administration.
During installation, you can select which product components to install. If you are not sure which setup suits you best, see our setup recommendations for guidance.
Installation options
You have two installer options for GMG ColorServer:

Setup via Web Installer
- Download the setup file (GMGColorServer_WebSetup_x.x.x.x.exe) from our GMG Download Center.
- Double-click the setup file to start the installer. Make sure you have full administrator rights when running the installation.
- Follow the installation wizard.
Setup via Offline Installer
- From a computer with internet access, download the setup archive (Additional Downloads > GMGColorServer_vx.x.x.x_x64.zip) from our GMG Download Center.
- Transfer the ZIP archive to the target computer and extract it.
- Double-click the setup file to start the installer. Make sure you have full administrator rights when running the installation.
- Follow the installation wizard.
Setup recommendations
| Company size | Typical installation |

| Small | All components are installed on one computer and used locally. |
| Midsize | All components are installed on one computer. Additional clients are installed on separate computers for multi-user access and collaboration. |
| Large | Components are distributed across several computers, allowing for centrally controlled, networked color management. Additional workers can be licensed to maximize performance. |
