ColorServer on virtual hardware

GMG ColorServer can also run on a virtual machine, such as Hyper-V. To ensure successful operation, please follow these important guidelines:

• Licensing: Hyper-V does not support USB devices such as dongles. Therefore, online licensing is required.
• Measuring devices: To connect a measuring device for GMG SmartProfiler, please use a client on a physical computer with USB support.
• Static host: The virtual machine must run on a static host, as changing hosts can alter hardware attributes and deactivate the license. We recommend creating a snapshot of the VM after installation and license activation to quickly restore a working system if needed.
• Performance: For optimal performance in Hyper-V, enable dynamic memory allocation so the RAM assigned to the VM adjusts based on workload.
