One of our key concepts is to enable our customers to always achieve exactly the same print results, whether a printer is located next room or in another country. With the remote proofing functionality or with ColorProof GO in GMG ColorProof, you have every opportunity to move work between different locations.

Setting up a remote site - Sender
- Define your remote site under System > Remote Proofing > Remote Proofing Sites > Manage Remote proofing Sites > Properties > Add.
- Provide a name for your remote site.
- Specify the target location; Network location or FTP.
4. Specify the Export job options:
Embed Color Profiles (Read-Only Job) or Link to Color Profiles (Editable Job)
Generally, it is recommended to link the color management data (provided the respective files are already present on the target system). If any file is not present on the target system, you can either export and import the respective file separately or you embed the data. When embedding the data, all used files are added to the proof job and the job will be imported in read-only mode.
Automated remote proofing - Sender
All proof jobs of a specific workflow are automatically uploaded to a remote site, if the following functionality is activated: Workflows > Workflow properties > Printer > Export Job for Remote Proofing
- Select the target remote site from the drop-down list.
- Activate the functionality Print on Local Printer before Exporting if this is required.
Automated remote proofing - Receiver
Depending on using a network location or FTP to receive remote jobs, fill in one of both sections:
Import FTP Settings
Proof jobs can be automatically imported from a defined FTP hotfolder and added to the job list in GMG ColorProof only if this option is selected: System > Remote Proofing > Import FTP Settings > Automated Job Import from FTP.
If GMG ColorProof is not picking up jobs from your FTP server, please check your antivirus firewall settings to ensure they are not blocking the communication between GMG ColorProof and FTP server.
Import Hotfolder Settings
You can define a path to which all remote jobs can copied to have them added to the job list in GMG ColorProof:
- Activate this check box: System > Remote Proofing > Import Hotfolder Settings > Automated Job Import via Hotfolder
- Define the path in the Job Import Hotfolder field
If the imported jobs are password protected, you need to save a password list as a text file (Passwords.txt) in this path. Passwords are entered in separate lines into the text file (line break as separator).
Import Job Handling
When importing a job with a larger media size than the one defined in the Target Printer, you can specify a default action for the import. You can either Keep the original Job Layout and then manually define a different media size or you can Apply Automatic Image Placement with predefined settings for the image rotation.
Importing remote jobs can be made dependent on a specific serial number (dongle or online license), forcing the system to only accept remote jobs from a specific sender. To activate the Serial Number Protection, insert one or more serial numbers and protect the entry with the administrator password. The jobs exported out of the sender system automatically contain the license serial number information of the sender.
Functionality Put Jobs on Hold: On import, jobs can be automatically put on hold instead of directly being added to the print queue.
Manual remote proofing - Sender
New Job
Send a job to a remote site from the manual job manager: Job > Send To...
ColorProof Job list or from the history
Select the job in the Jobs or History list > Right-Click > Send to...
Email notifications for Remote Proofing jobs
- Sender
First configure the setup for email notifications sent by ColorProof
The sender email address that will be used to inform the users when you sent a proof job to their remote site is defined here: System > Remote Proofing > Outgoing E-Mail Notifications > Sender E-Mail address
If you want a feedback notification on sent proof jobs, fill in an e-mail address of yours in this field: System > Remote Proofing > Incoming E-Mail Notifications (Sent by Remote Site) > E-Mail Address
The e-mail address is then embedded in the proof jobs and used by the notification service on the remote site to return an import notification, for example.
- Receiver
Enter the email address of the receiver (the person of the remote site that shall be informed about new remote proofing jobs) in this field: System > Remote Proofing > Remote Proofing Sites > Properties > Double-Click remote site > E-Mail notifications > To
