Remote proofing in GMG ColorProof lets you create consistent proof output even when ColorProof is not right next to you, whether it’s in the next room or at another location. It enables operators to send proof jobs to another ColorProof system or to submit files remotely without needing direct access to the workstation that drives the proofer.
In GMG ColorProof, there are three ways to print proofs “remotely”.
1. ColorProof GO (browser-based upload)
ColorProof GO is a web-based client that allows users to upload files via the cloud to an authorized ColorProof system. Files are dropped into a defined workflow, so the operator experience is similar to “handing over” jobs to the proofing system—without being at the device.
2. Network/folder-based remote proofing (export/import)
You can export ColorProof jobs to a local or network folder and import them on another system. This can be used:
- Automatically (jobs from a workflow are exported to a remote site), or
- Manually (send selected jobs from the job list/history).
This option is often used when systems share a folder structure (local sync, network share, or site connection) and you want a simple file-based handover between locations.
3. FTP-based remote proofing
Remote sites can also be configured via FTP to transfer jobs between locations. In many environments, FTP is restricted by IT policies, so folder-based exchange or ColorProof GO is often preferred.
