This article describes how you can configure your ColorProof system to print remote jobs with nesting.

- Send remote jobs
By defining a dedicated network location and workflow per sender, you gain a clearer overview of who sends which jobs and can nest these jobs accordingly. Jobs from different senders can use different nesting strategies.
Remote proofing with nesting is available in ColorProof 5.18 and later versions. Older versions have a different remote proofing handling (without nesting possibility), see for instructions here: How to set up remote proofing in ColorProof 5.17 and older versions
Configure Remote sites
Go to:
-
System (top menu) > Remote Proofing > Manage Remote Sites
or - System (left-hand tab) > Remote Proofing > Remote proofing sites > Properties
Please ensure that both the sending and receiving systems have full read and write access to the configured network location.
Configure sender system
On the sender system, create a remote site of type Remote Sender:
- Click Add to create a new remote site.
- Enter a name for the sender system.
- In Automatic transfer, select Remote Sender.
- Set the shared network location.
Configure receiver system
On the receiver system, create a remote site of type Remote Receiver:
- Click Add to create a new remote site.
- Enter a name for the receiver system.
- In Automatic transfer, select Remote Receiver.
- Set the same network location as configured on the sender system.
- Define the Target workflow by entering the name of the workflow that will process the remote jobs.
After configuring both sites, restart the sender and receiver ColorProof systems.
Configure sender workflow
Create a workflow that exports jobs for remote proofing.
- Add a hotfolder and define the input path for the image files for the remote proofing.
- Add a workflow
- Enable Export job for remote proofing.
- Set Target Remote Site to your sender system.
Jobs from this workflow will be written to the network location defined in the Remote Sender configuration
Configure receiver workflow
On the receiver system, configure the workflow that will process incoming remote jobs and define the nesting behavior.
- Add a hotfolder.
Note: This input folder is required, but it does not receive the remote jobs. Remote jobs are read from the network location configured in the Remote Receiver. - Add a workflow
The workflow name must match the name defined in the Remote Receiver settings. - The proof standard can be ignored; color management is defined on the sender system.
- Select the desired nesting strategy for remote jobs.
Send remote jobs
To send remote jobs: Drop image files to the input folder of the remote hotfolder on the sender system.
- One receiver can take jobs from multiple senders
(Receiver 1 can receive jobs from Sender A + Sender B + etc.) - One sender can send jobs to multiple receivers
(Sender A can send jobs to Receiver 1 + Receiver 2 + etc.)
Remote jobs configured as described above are saved as .flow files, which support nesting.
Older versions (ColorProof 5.17 and earlier) use the .job format, which does not support nesting.
