Paper tint simulation is enabled by default in new jobs and workflows. It provides full color accuracy by simulating the color appearance of the actual printing substrate used in production.
Fill Gaps: When a job contains multiple images that use the same proof standard and proof media, this option ensures that the gaps between the images are filled with the simulated paper tint. Otherwise, the white areas of the proof media between images can distort the viewer’s perception by introducing brighter gaps that visually interfere with the intended paper tint. Filling these gaps helps maintain a consistent overall appearance and prevents misinterpretation.
Deactivating the paper tint simulation
In some situations, you may want to disable the paper tint simulation—for example when printing on transparent or metallic media, or when you need a proof that is visually pleasing rather than strictly color-accurate. (Turning off the paper tint expands the available color space.)
The paper tint simulation can be deactivated per job or per workflow, but not for individual images.
Printouts without paper tint simulation no longer qualify as contract proofs. Consequently, ColorProof will display a warning message when this option is disabled:
Note:When using static profiles from GMG OpenColor, the paper tint simulation cannot be disabled because the paper tint is embedded in these pre-calculated profiles and cannot be separated. This is only possible when working with dynamic OpenColor proof standards.
