Smart Hotfolder

A Smart Hotfolder allows you to process files with different proof standards through just one workflow. This way, you can reduce 1:1 Hotfolder and Workflow combinations which often use the same parameters and only differ with regard to the proof standard or profile.

To use different proof standards with just one workflow, a rule set needs to be defined, comprising rules on how the proof standard or profile should be selected automatically from the image file name or file location. Basically, this approach is similar (though less complex) to using a job ticket, and may come in handy for workflow systems that do not output XML job tickets.

How to set up a Smart Hotfolder

1. Create a new hotfolder
2. Select the hotfolder type 'Smart' 
   
3. Define an input folder and Save.
4. Create a Rule Set for the hotfolder. You can click 'Edit Rule Sets' in the hotfolder settings or click: System > Edit Smart Hotfolder Rule sets > Add
5. Define a name for the rule set
6. Click 'Add' to create a new rule
7. Define the rule with a condition for the image name or folder and a condition for the proof standard or profile name
   
8. Optionally, click the setting 'Error job if image name does not fit to rules'
9. You can test the rule set by typing an image name or by loading an image file
10. Click the refresh button to check if the rule works

Workflow settings

Please create a workflow for the new Smart Hotfolder. The proof standard in the workflow settings is used as a fallback for the color management in case no rule can be applied to an image.

In the workflow you can define the spot color set priority, the labels and the control strips.
