To request and transfer profiles, GMG OpenColor and GMG ColorProof communicate via an HTTP web service. By default, the web service in GMG OpenColor is already enabled and only needs to be configured if you want to change the default port. The connection is established automatically as soon as both applications are running.
- Check in GMG OpenColor > Options > Preferences > Web Service settings if Share Application via Web Service is activated. If GMG OpenColor is installed on a separate computer, make sure the network connection is fine.
- Change the Web Service Port (default = 8080), if required.
- Start GMG ColorProof. Navigate to: System > Centralized Color Management Settings > OpenColor Server Address. Enter localhost if GMG OpenColor is installed on the same computer as GMG ColorProof.
- Activate Automatic Download and Automatic Installation to automatically download and install new proof standards and profiles from OpenColor.
GMG ColorProof is now configured to automatically request profiles from GMG OpenColor.
At first start, it could take a moment until the connection is established, which you can speed up via a manual first download from OpenColor (as described below).
Manual download from OpenColor
Alternatively, you can also manually download OpenColor resources and decide whether to install and use them or not:
-
Database > Download > From GMG OpenColor
Note: If the connection cannot be established, enter the IP address and the port into the address bar of Windows Edge (example: http://127.0.0.1:8080, see as well GMG OpenColor RemoteClient). If the connection to GMG OpenColor is available, the OpenColor configuration will be displayed. If not, please check to ensure IIS is activated and the firewall correctly configured.
Note: GMG OpenColor is designed to be used in a local network. Proxy servers are not supported.
It might be possible, but it is not supported to use GMG OpenColor via a VPN connection.
