1. Preparation
- Ensure your system meets all system requirements
- Disconnect any measuring devices from your computer before beginning installation to avoid driver issues.
- Make sure that no Microsoft system updates are running in the background to prevent interruptions during installation.
- Add the required file paths as exception in the virus scanner and in Windows Defender.
- Confirm that the necessary ports and hosts are configured correctly in your firewall configuration.
- It is recommended to install the software with full administrator rights. While standard Windows user privileges are sufficient for installing, starting, and using ColorProof, administrator rights may be needed to access network drives.
2. Download the software
You can download the software from the GMG Download Center using one of the following methods. For more details, refer to: Download options: web installer or full installer?
- Web Installer (Default Option): Recommended if the target computer is connected to the internet.
- Full Installer (Offline Installer): Recommended if the target computer is not connected to the internet.
3. Install the software (first time installation)
- Download the preferred installation package.
- If you are using the offline installer, unzip the package and review the article on Profiles and database content: AppData Package (*.pkg) before running the installation.
- Double-click the *.EXE file.
- The InstallShield Wizard will then guide you through the process.
- Start the application.
4. Get a license
- On the first start of GMG ColorProof on a new machine, the system will generate, a new online license system. A serial number specific to your system will be provided automatically, which can be used to purchase licenses.
- If your PC is already linked to an online license system, it will pick up available licenses from the cloud.
- For systems without internet access, GMG ColorProof can operate offline using a hardware dongle. Please contact our Support for more information regarding offline licensing.
