There are a few different ways to backup your RIP depending on the size of it. The first way is the easiest most common method.
1. Open up your GMG Production Suite RIP.
2. Select the edit menu
3. Select Backup Settings and save to the location you would like it backed up to.
There will be no warning if you exceed the backup limit of 2 GB but if you notice that it is larger you need to backup the printers individually. This is done in the same manor as the full backup
1. Open up your GMG Production Suite RIP.
2. Select the edit menu
3. Select Printer Backup Settings and save to the location you would like it backed up to.
If a printer goes over 2GB you can do the following to backup manually:
- backup other printers
- manually backup \Calibration\
- manually backup all XML files from \users\ProductionSuite\
- also check for user created files in \Grommets\, \Libraries\, \Layout_Templates\ and\Templates\ and also back those up (= copy to a safe location)
Backups are only as reliable as the drive on which they get stored so make sure you always move them to a server. Don't keep them on the same hard drive on which the software is installed!!!
